In Canada, the practice of veterinary medicine is regulated at the provincial/territorial level, with a licensing body for veterinarians in each province/territory. There are also veterinary associations at both the federal and provincial levels that advocate for the veterinary profession.
These licensing bodies protect and serve the public interest through the regulation of the practice of veterinary medicine. While the general requirements to practice veterinary medicine are similar across the country, specific requirements differ from province to province.
Below is a list of the provincial and territorial licensing bodies which regulate veterinarians and the practice of veterinary medicine in each province/territory.
